Submitting a paper to VCBM 2010!

On February 11, 2010, in Medical Visualization, by bastijn

Last year I have followed the course IN4307: Medical Visualization, which resulted in a final mark of 8 out of 10. The docent of the course, C.P. Botha, however, asked a fellow student, André van Dixhoorn, and me if we would like to combine our work in one paper and submit this to VCBM 2010 to see if we could get through.

It all started after a meeting and presentation of our project results to researchers from the LUMC. After receiving positive response in this meeting our docent asked us if we would like to do some extra work, but get a huge gain in return; a publication. Of course, this was no choice at all, most of the work was already done so with minimum effort we could make a nice contribution to the world ;) .  Besides, how cool is it to have your name on a publication, even before you have finished your master thesis?

André started refactoring our old code so it would be more robust (first version was made in a _big_ hurry) and I started combining two papers into one and putting everything in the correct LaTeX markup for the conference.

Last thing to mention is that we will visit LUMC again tomorrow for an informal, first meeting since we were a bit late handing them our new work (in fact, they received it today). I’m curious what the day will bring!
